I am 25 years old, born and raised in Atlanta. My art journey began at a very young age. Growing up my mother would show me everything she learned while she pursued her own art career. We moved to Savannah, Ga when I was around 10 years old. She attended SCAD during our stay. Occasionally, she’d bring me along with her to school & introduce me to different forms of art. The two things that stuck to me the most; film and fine art. Later on in life, my high school art teacher taught me how to practice skills and patience when working on any craft. She also showed the class different styles of fine art and the history behind it. She was one of the first to ever acknowledge that I had talent and pushed me to take it seriously. As I grew older, I became many things to different people. I was a Hairstylist, Makeup Artist, and even Skater. All forms of expressing myself. Once the pandemic began I was able to be who I wanted to be. Once I realized that art is what I was meant to do, ShesArtZee was born. A platform and space I created & use to share my work and growth!

  • Describe an object that has inspired you
An object that will always inspire me no matter what is a blank, stretched canvas. I can’t help but think of all the possibilities and ways I can express myself. And knowing my color palette is endless intensifies that drive to create something from nothing.
  • Describe a place that has inspired you
Downtown and Midtown Atlanta are areas that have always inspired me from a child to now. There’s so much art all over my city. You can find murals in every tunnel, on almost every building, even inside establishments where you buy food and inside schools. There are works of art everywhere you go, it almost feels inescapable sometimes. It’s also refreshing to know there are so many artists that live around me. Being an artist can get lonely at times, but one stroll through this artsy city really helps with that. It’s almost like your anxiety to create and “ artist block “ disappears after seeing so many different people express themselves in so many different ways.
  • Describe a person that has inspired you
There’s an artist from LA named Kidané. He’s a very talented artist that has showcased a lot of his work online and had the pleasure of doing pieces for many A-list celebrities as a result. Though he and I have different styles, he’s definitely inspired me to be more detailed with my portrait pieces.
